PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras wrestling program opened its 2016-17 season on Saturday by crowning two individual champions at the UW-Platteville Super 8 Invitational. Freshman
Clint Lembeck (141#) and
Guy Patron Jr. (197#) led the charge for the Duhawks, winning titles in their first collegiate tournaments.

Lembeck finished 4-0 on the day, including three victories by technical fall and a pin in the championship match. In his first collegiate bout, Lembeck faced Alex Costello of UW-Platteville while representing the Duhawks at 141#. After defeating Costello by tech fall, 18-1, the freshman from Linn Mar won by a 17-1 tech fall over Kendall Foster of Central. For a place in the championship bout, Lembeck posted his third consecutive tech fall, this time a 16-0 mark over Augustana's Brendan Gould. Lembeck completed his collegiate debut with a win by fall over Jahleel Vester of Central in 4:06 to win the title at 141#.Â

Patron made a statement in his collegiate debut, winning by fall (0:53) to defeat Ethan Benoit of Augustana. His success carried over to his next bout as Patron posted another win by fall (1:54) over UW-Platteville's Joshua Canoon, which earned Patron a spot in the 197# finals. Standing between him and his first career title was Matt Seabold of Central, a two-time national qualifier, All-American and the current No. 5 wrestler at 197#. Patron worked his way out to a 7-4 advantage before garnering a riding time point to win 8-4.
