Duhawks Sink Vikings on the Road

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team won it's third-straight with a 64-47 win over North Park. On the day, the Duhawks shot 19-of-23 from the charity stripe, led by freshman Marissa Schroeder who went a perfect 7-of-7 from the line to finish with 11 points.

SERIES NOTABLES
- Loras has won all six meetings in program history against North Park and first since the 2010-11 season

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- Tough defense from the Vikings proved to be a challenge for the Duhawks in early minutes as Loras didn't find it's first field goal until 5:31 when junior Tayler Walker drained a three to bring the score to 5-3
- Three points each from senior Cyerra Hutchins and junior Hanna Stokes kept the Duhawks within striking distance despite North Park holding a steady lead through the first ten minutes of play
- Loras started the second quarter strong as the Duhawks went on a 14-3 run in the first five minutes of the period during which time Loras forced four turnovers and saw scoring contributions from six players
- Stokes and senior Kelly Barzowski teamed up to go a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line to give Loras a 25-14 lead with two minutes remaining in the half
- Sophomore Riley Eckhart gave the Duhawks their biggest lead thus far on the day with a 3-pointer, assisted by Schroeder, for a 30-16 Loras advantage
- A 3-point play from Schroeder created a 16-point spread for the Duhawks with 4:41 remaining in the third quarter ... Schroeder's free throw was one of seven for the Bellevue native in the third quarter as Loras went a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity stripe in 5:36 of play through the third period
- With 1:37 remaining in the fourth quarter, junior Jess Brown found junior Reagan Friend for triple to give the Duhawks a 63-45 lead
- Senior Brooke Prososki-Green entered the game and became the 12th Duhawk to score on the day with a free-throw

TEAM NOTABLES
- The Duhawks shot 82.6 percent from the free throw line, Loras' third-highest mark of the year
… This season, the Duhawks are 5-0 when shooting better than 72.5 percent from the line
- Loras' 46 rebounds are the second-highest for the team on the year as the Duhawks out-rebounded the Vikings 46-33
- Led by Oberman with three, Loras earned 10 steals on the night and are now 5-0 on the season when recording eight or more steals in a game
- The Duhawks' 19 field-goals are a season-low for Loras when winning the game as the Duhawks have two losses on the year when finishing with 21 made field-goals (Luther and Wheaton)

INDIVIDUAL NOTABLES
- Tuesday's win over North Park was Schroeder's first career double-double. The Marquette Catholic prep finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 
- Stokes has now recorded double-digit points in Loras' last three games. 
- After seeing 13 minutes of court time on Tuesday, Eckhardt finished with a career-high 7 points after shooting 2-of-6 from beyond-the-arc. 

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - MARISSA SCHROEDER
- For the second straight game, the Marquette Catholic prep has earned Player of the Game honors after earning her first collegiate double-double on Tuesday. Schroeder finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one assist. 

UP NEXT
- Loras heads north to Milwaukee, Wis. as the Duhawks face off against MSOE on Wednesday. The Raiders are 5-4 on the year after a win over Mount Mary on Monday. Loras and MSOE will tip off at 7 p.m. from inside the Kern Center.
