Duhawks Soar over Previously Unbeaten Blugolds

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Duhawks snapped their three-game losing streak by defeating previously unbeaten UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, 71-66. Senior Lauren Stanich led the second half push with a pair of triples while going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final seconds of the game to secure the victory.

SERIES NOTABLES
- The series history is now level at one after Loras' win … Prior to Saturday, the last time the two sides met was 1980 with UW-Eau Claire winning 76-65

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- The Blugolds started the game off strong and took a 23-12 lead in the first quarter … Sophomore Hallee Hoepner had the hot hand, scoring 11 of her team's 22 points
- In the second quarter, the Duhawks strung together a 6-2 run to pull within five points of UW-Eau Claire heading into the half
- For the first time since the first quarter, Loras tied the game at 38-all after a three-point play from junior Hanna Stokes and a layup from freshman Marissa Schroeder
- The Duhawks added to their lead thanks to a 19-3 run, which included a 4-for-4 stretch from beyond the arc, resulting in a 61-54 lead
- The Blugolds flipped the momentum back to their side of the court and went on their own 9-2 run in order to regain a one-point advantage after a 3-pointer with 44.5 seconds on the clock
- In the final 20 seconds, UW-Eau Claire sent the Duhawks to the line on four different occasions after Loras forced back-to-back turnovers … Stanich was perfect at the line, making all four of her free-throws while Hutchins added a pair of her own

- Saturday marked the first win over a team either ranked or receiving votes since Dec. 31, 2015 when Loras defeated seventh-ranked Wash.-St. Louis inside the Athletic & Wellness Center
- Loras' .409 3-point shooting percentage is the second-highest mark this season
- Led by senior Addie Oberman with five, Loras collected 20 assists on 23 baskets, the most this season

- The Pleasant Prairie, Wis. native lead the balanced Duhawk attack with 14 points while adding four rebounds ... Stanich drained four free-throws with less than seven seconds on the clock to solidify the victory
