Duhawks Soar Over Dutch, 70-59

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team finished it's first half of the Iowa Conference season with a 70-59 win over Central on Wednesday. Freshman Marissa Schroeder led the Duhawks with a 21 point, 13 rebound double-double.

- The Duhawks own the series lead, 33-26 including 11 of the last 12

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- Loras jumped out to a quick 10-5 lead with four points from both Schroeder and junior Hanna Stokes
- From 7:49 in the first quarter to 5:22 in the second quarter, Schroeder and Stokes paced another Duhawk run, this time Loras outscore the Dutch 22-9
- With 2:44 remaining before the break, sophomore Macenzie Kraemer hit a shot from downtown for a 43-32 lead
- A 6-0 run, including a layup by junior Jess Brown made for a 13-point Duhawk advantage, Loras' biggest lead until that point
- Schroeder scored five-straight points including a made shot from outside the arc to put the Duhawks up 67-52 with 2:02 remaining in the fourth

- Schroeder finished with a career-high 21 points on Wednesday, which is also an individual single-game high this season for Loras

Loras heads back on the road to begin it's second half of the Iowa Conference schedule. First up for the Duhawks the second-time around will be Luther. In their last meeting, the Norse defeated Loras 78-53 in the Athletic & Wellness Center. Tip-off in Regents Center is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
