A high-scoring guard, McCabe piloted the Duhawks to consecutive Iowa Conference championships, a third place finish at the National Catholic Invitational Tournament in 1950 and a 80-34 record.
Second all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,772 points. McCabe racked up 614 points in 1949-50 and 688 in 1950-51.
Claimed post season honors with the Johnny Evers, Jr. Sportsmanship Award and was named to the Helms Athletic Foundation All-American Team for his performance in 1950-51.
