For a man who only spent two seasons in purple and gold, Mike Lambe made himself a household name in the eyes of Loras College.
After transferring from the University of Dubuque after two seasons, Lambe joined the Duhawks for the 1993-94 men's basketball season. Immediately becoming an impact player, Lambe led Loras to back-to-back winning season while pulling in a number of accomplishments for himself.
For starters, Lambe was a two-time All-Conference selection, two-time American Basketball Coaches All-Region selection. Lambe was a routine scorer for Head Coach John Lembezeder, totaling 1,322 total points, averaging 26.4 per game.
His teammate, Roger Teeling said of Lambe, "Mike is not a very vocal guy; some would say he is soft spoken. Yet his leadership, through his actions, made everyone around him play harder and achieve more. His statistics are impressive, no doubt, but it is all of his other qualities that set him apart and make him worthy of the Hall of Fame."
Lembezeder echoed the thoughts of Teeling, "Mike was truly a rock, both figuratively and literally. As a player, he was a force inside, very difficult to move with an uncanny touch shooting the ball. As a teammate, he was someone the coaches and his fellow players could always count on."
A graduate of Southwestern High School in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, Lambe earned his Sport Management degree from Loras College in 1995. Today, Lambe is a Sales Manager at Rayovac and resides in Verona, Wisconsin with his wife, Tessa, and children, Paige and Connor.
