Known as a natural athlete and leader, Paul participated in basketball, baseball and football at Loras.
Despite the Duhawks' 12-20-1 record on the gridiron during his years at Loras, Paul collected Iowa Conference honors as a sophomore.
On the court, he co-captained Loras to a 49-28 record in four seasons.
In 1977, Fr. Paul became the auxiliary bishop of the LaCrosse Archdiocese.
