Loras Holds Off Simpson to Claim 85–81 Road Win

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Loras College men's basketball team captured its fourth straight win on the road against the Simpson College Storm, 85-81, on Saturday evening.

The Duhawks have now secured back-to-back wins to open conference play this week after defeating the University of Dubuque, 84-69, on Wednesday.

After a back-and-forth contest all throughout the first half, Nolan Berendes hit a three-pointer with 10:16 remaining to grow the Duhawks lead to 16. Simpson raced back to cut the lead to just one (77-76) with under two minutes to play. Once again, Berendes was there for the and-one bucket with 1:24 to play to extend the Loras lead back to four (80-76). The Duhawks played the free throw battle to close out the game and walked out of Cowles Fieldhouse with a four-point victory.

Berendes led the Purple and Gold with 25 points and shot an astounding 6-of-10 from three-point land, while tying teammate Daymen Jackson in rebounds with six. Dylan Kurt and Kyle Kober also finished in double figures scoring 19 and 14 points, respectively.

Loras shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) from the field and 38.5 percent (10-of-36) from three. The Duhawks capitalized from the charity stripe going 23-of-29 (79.3 percent) compared to the Storms' 11-of-13 (84.6 percent).

Simpson was led by Seth Gipple with 17 points followed by Bo Huston with 15 points.
