Fourth Quarter Surge Pushes Duhawks Past MSOE

MILWAUKEE (Duhawks.com) -  The Loras women's basketball team won it's fourth-straight game on Wednesday on the road at MSOE. Senior Addie Oberman led the Duhawks with 13 points, five assists and three rebounds while junior Tayler Walker chipped in 12 points in her first collegiate start.

SERIES NOTABLES
- Wednesday was the first meeting in program history between the two programs … Loras now owns the series lead, 1-0

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- In her first collegiate start, Walker started the game 3-for-3 from the floor for seven points in the first five minutes of play as the Duhawks took the early lead, 13-5
- The Raiders pulled within one to end the quarter after a 10-0 run and held Loras scoreless in the last four minutes
- A 3-pointer by senior Cyerra Hutchins gave the Duhawks a four-point advantage with 8:11 remaining in the second quarter
- MSOE took it's first lead of the game with 5:37 remaining in the first half at 24-23 
- Facing a four-point deficit, Walker hit a three and junior Hanna Stokes drained a free-throw to tie the game at 37 with five minutes remaining in the third quarter
- With seven seconds left, senior Kelly Barzowski found Oberman for the layup and a 46-43 Loras advantage
- After an MSOE layup pulled the Raiders to within one at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Duhawks went on an 18-0 run and held MSOE scoreless for over seven minutes … During the run, Oberman led the charge with seven points while the Duhawk defense held the Raiders to 0-of-9 from the floor
- With four minutes left in regulation, sophomore Riley Eckhart entered the game and hit back-to-back 3-pointers en route to finishing with eight points in four minutes of play to seal Loras' 74-54 victory

TEAM NOTABLES
- The Duhawks earned assists on 23-of-30  field goals on Wednesday … Loras is now 5-0 when recording 20 or more assists in a game
- On the night, the Duhawks shot 51.7 percent from the floor, Loras' highest mark of the year ... Walker, Eckhart, Stokes and freshman Marissa Schroeder all finished with only one missed shot
- Wednesday's win is the second-straight game the Duhawks have out-rebounded their opponent by double-digits, finishing with 39 to MSOE's 21 … During the Duhawks four-game winning streak, Loras is averaging a rebounding average of 10.25 rebounds per game. 
- Also while on their four-game winning streak, the Duhawks are outscoring their opponents by an average of 13.5 points per game

INDIVIDUAL NOTABLES
- Seven of Oberman's 13 points came in the fourth quarter during Loras' 18-0 run 
- Eckhart averaged two points per minute played on Wednesday as the Park Ridge, Ill. native notched a career-high eight points
- Five assists against the Raiders is a season-high for Hutchins. The Cedar Rapids native has recorded seven or more rebounds in Loras' last five games

- Hutchins finished with nine rebounds, eight points, five assists and two steals to lead the Duhawks on Wednesday. 

UP NEXT 
Following the holiday break, Loras returns to the Chicagoland area for a non-conference tilt against Elmhurst. The Bluejays are 5-5 following a 86-59 win on Sunday against Carleton. Tip-off from inside R.A. Faganel Hall is scheduled for 2 p.m.
