Swimming and Diving Sweep Simpson

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras swimming & diving teams earned their first overall win and first American Rivers Conference win on Friday against Simpson from inside of San Jose Pool. On the men's side, the Duhawks narrowly escaped the Storm with an 87-82 victory. The Women also earned their first win by a margin of 138-78.

NOTABLES
• The women's team got things going early in the 200 yard medley relay with an impressive win by over 34 seconds
• Kaitlyn LaGrange kept the momentum rolling in the 1650 yard freestyle finishing with a time of 19:29.91, nearly two minutes faster than the fastest Simpson swimmer
• In the Men's 200 yard freestyle John Lynch IV managed to catch the Simpson swimmer and edge him out by .14 seconds
• Sara Schafer had a strong showing in the Women's 200 yard IM finishing with a time of 2:20.23
• Mikaela Lengwin dominated on the 1m dive outscoring the Simpson swimmer 472.15 to 295.95 over 11 dives
• Alex Nesset had a strong showing in the women's 100 yard freestyle wining her heat with a time of 58.24
• In her final solo race of the night, Kaitlyn LaGrange finished the 500 yard freestyle in 5:40.75
• Mac Faldet capped off his night with a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.91
• The Loras women's relay team finished off a 2-0 night defeating the storm by five seconds

The Duhawks return to San Jose Pool tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.for a non-conference matchup against Grinnell.
