Feb. 5, 2021 - The Loras College swim and dive team hosted the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan University at San Jose Pool Friday evening in the first of two dual meets on the docket for the weekend. Strong diving by

Brad LaGrange and
Tim LaGrange helped propel the Duhawks to their first victory over the Prairie Wolves in men's swimming program history.
The Duhawks swept the 200 yard freestyle event in both men's and women's races, with B. LaGrange claiming first in 1:52.98 followed by
Andrew Gainer who clocked in at 1:55.62 to earn a total of 13 team points.
Kinsey Bogen added nine points for the women coming in at 2:08.83 in the event.
Loras emerged victorious again in the 50 yard freestyle, seeing T. LaGrange tally nine points for the men with a 23.22 finish, while
Sarah Shafer did the same for the women with her 26.32 time. Shafer added another four points to the team score in the 200 yard backstroke where she finished second in 2:21.28.
Depth in the men's roster put the Duhawks ahead further in the 400 yard IM with
Zach Nelson and
Cole Rabedeaux taking 13 points from the Prairie Wolves and the same was true in the 200 yard butterfly, as Nelson and Christopher Grunke, Jr. posted another 13 points for the Duhawks.
The women's 200 freestyle relay saw
Amber Forbort,
Taylor Hrabak, Bogen and Shafer shine, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan's Kate Loeffelhoz, Kennedy Carlson, Esme Sipp, and Josie Ford with their 1:47.08 time.
Tonight's 109-99 victory marks the first time the men have defeated Nebraska Wesleyan in program history, while the women were edged 92-76 by the visitors.
The Duhawks return to San Jose Pool for their second matchup against the Prairie Wolves on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 A.M.
