WHEATON, Ill. – The Loras College men's and women's swim and dive teams wrapped up 2025 with the three-day Wheaton Invite hosted by Wheaton College. Both squads earned fifth place finishes with the men totaling 203 points, while the women concluded the invite with 206 points.
A number of individual swimmers as well as a relay team made their mark in program history with impressive races over the weekend.
Freshman
Owen Leitzen grabbed two event titles in the 50-yard freestyle (20.43) as well as the 100-yard freestyle (45.38). Those two swims, along with his third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (50.82), all rank second in school history.
Caden Gillmore also saw success, setting a new team record in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.46), a mark that stood since 2019.
Hudson Otis joined the fun by swimming the third fastest time in school history in the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.68).
Last but not least, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Leitzen, Gillmore, Otis, and
Gabriel Ibanez secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:11.56, which sits second all-time in program history.
The men earned five top five finishes, while the women captured one event with swimmers in the top five.
