Rebecca Young

Rebecca (Stier) Young joined the Loras Track and Field staff for the 2015 season after being hired in November of 2014.

Young is a 2011 graduate of Winona State University where she earned her degree in professional studies with an emphasis in collegiate throwing. While at Winona State, Young was a six-time NCAA Division II All-American in the weight throw (2009, 2010), shot put, (2010, Indoor/Outdoor 2011) and discus (2010). In addition, Young owns the Winona State all-time shot put record with a distance of 15.55m. Her personal bests in the shot put, discus, hammer throw and weight throw all ranked in the top-10 in program history during her time at Winona State.

Young completed her master’s degree in May of 2015 in physical education, coaching of sport from Southwest Minnesota State University. While at Southwest Minnesota State, she was a graduate assistant in the track and field program and worked with the throwers. In addition to her coaching at the collegiate level, Young also worked at Grand Meadow Public Schools as a volleyball coach, assistant varsity basketball coach and assistant track and field coach for throwing.

In her first season with the Duhawks, she coached her first Iowa Conference Champion in the shot put and runner-up in the javelin during the outdoor season.

A native of Grand Meadow, Minn., Stier now resides in Dubuque with her husband, Jarrell, and her two children, Jashauna and Darrien.
