Kodie Ritchie was named the second head coach in program history for Loras cheerleading in July of 2018 by Director of Athletics Denise Udelhofen. In addition to her role within the athletic department, Ritchie also serves as the Assistant Director of Admission for Loras College.
Ritchie has a long history in the world of cheerleading. After graduating from Southeast Missouri State University (NCAA Div. I), where she served as cheerleading team captain, she moved into an assist coaching role and was soon named head coach. Ritchie spend eleven years with the program at Southeast between her time as an athlete an coach. Additionally, she was an instructor/head instructor for the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) for ten years. Through NCA she worked cheerleading camps and events all over the country, including NCA All-Star Nationals in Dallas and NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fla. Additionally, she has several years of high school coaching experience. Coach Ritchie was the head competitive cheerleading and dance coach at Briar Cliff University before coming to Loras.
Outside of her coaching roles, Ritchie was a uniform representative for Varsity Spirit Fashion, camp manager for Varsity Camp Administration, and is a current judge for Varsity All-Star. She spends several weekends per year judging tumbling, jumps, stunts, pyramids, and basket tosses for all-star teams of all levels across the country.
Ritchie is a native of southern Illinois and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with her bachelor’s degree in human environmental science with minors in retain management, hospitality management, marketing management, and dance. She is currently working on her master’s degree in coaching leadership at Loras College.
Ritchie met her husband Drew, the head cheer and stunt coach at the University of Dubuque, through the National Cheerleaders Association and the two currently reside in Dubuque, Iowa.
