Fenwick helped turn the attention to the Duhawks, coming off the past five seasons with a record of 6-63, after he took over and was named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) men's Coach of the Year in 2015-16 to post a 9-10 record and went on to post winning records since. He has produced seven All-Conference performers with a combined 12 honors and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (IIAC) Academic honors each year. On the women's side, there have been nine All-Conference honorees with 13 total honors and freshman Clair Moore won the C-flight singles tournament in 2020.

In five seasons at Ashford, Fenwick compiled a career record of 97-46-1, including a 15-1 mark with his men's team and a 12-5 mark with his women's team this past season. Following the 2012-13 season, where his women's team went 15-2 and finished with a national ranking of 24, Fenwick was named the ITA Central Region Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Ashford finished 132-41 in singles' matches and five members of the women's team finished with double-digit victories in singles play. In doubles play, the Saints compiled a 63-22 mark, with three members reaching double-digits in victories.

Prior to his time at Ashford, Fenwick spent four years at Upper Iowa University, earning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Coach of the Year in 2008. That season, the Peacocks won their first conference title in school history.

Fenwick obtained his bachelor's degree in physical education/health with an emphasis in recreation, health and wellness from the University of Dubuque in 2001 after transferring from Mount St. Clare.

Fenwick and his wife, Kristy, currently reside in Dubuque.
