Truesdale's Brace Lifts Duhawks to 5-nil Win

INDIANOLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) – The Loras Women's Soccer team improved to 3-1-0 in the Iowa Conference on Saturday with a 5-nil win over Simpson College. Moments after a header by senior Alexa Eggert soared over the crossbar, junior Katie Trusedale netted the eventual game winner in the 7th minute to kick start the Duhawks offense.

From the opening whistle, play was dominated by the Duhawks, resulting in a final shot advantage of 19-1. After Truesdale's winner in the 7th minute, junior Ailish Rispin doubled the advantage in the 18th minute, scoring from 10 yards out on the left wing.

On 12 different occasions, the Duhawks sent shots towards frame, but only directed four on target. Sophomore Hanna Burgmeier tallied her third of the year in the 33rd minute on an assist from senior Claire Murphy from seven yards out.

The three goal advantage at half was welcoming for Loras, who picked up where they left off from last Saturday's 6-nil decision over Buena Vista.

In the 49th minute, Trusedale doubled her goal total on the day, recording her ninth winner of the season. On a free kick, Eggert placed the service into the penalty area, allowing Truesdale to dribble around her mark and send home the tally.

The fifth and final goal of the match came in the 57th minute when Truesdale ripped a scorcher and benefited from a redirection in front of goal, resulting in an own goal.

With the 5-0 win, Loras improves to 8-6-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the Iowa Conference.
