Women's Soccer Game Notes: Crucial Showdown with Luther on Saturday for Duhawks

PREVIEWING THE NORSE...
The Norse welcome the Duhawks to Decorah on Saturday for what could prove to be a major factor in this year's Iowa Conference Tournament. Luther enters with a 13-1 record and are currently on a four-game winning streak. On September 27, the Norse were upended by Coe College, 1-0.

Melisse Chasse leads Luther on the scoresheet with nine goals and 10 assist. Her 28 points are 10 more than her next closest teammate, Ellie Bunz. In goal, the Norse have leaned on a tandem of keepers, with Molly Hilgart posting a 7-1 record. In 777 minutes in goal, Hilgart has turned away 20 shots and boasts a 0.93 Goals Against Average. Lauren Thormodsgard comes off a week where she earned Iowa Conference Women's Soccer Defender of the Year honors. Her return to the field resulted in two shutouts, one over UW-Eau Claire and one over Buena Vista.

PREVIEWING THE COBBERS...
Just two days after playing Luther, the Duhawks will turn around and host Concordia-Moorhead on Monday afternoon. The Cobbers, who are members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), suffered just their second defeat of 2014 on Wednesday against Bethel University. They enter Monday's contest with a 11-2-1 record.

An early season setback to Wheaton (Ill.) on September 6 kickstarted a 10-game unbeaten streak that saw the Cobbers go 9-0-1. In that span of 10 games, the Cobbers outscored their opponents 20-4.

Leading the Cobbers on the scoresheet this season is Elizabeth Robinson who enters Monday's contest with six goals and one assist, including three game-winning-goals.
