CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Duhawks.com) – On the final day of the 2014 regular season, the Loras Women's Soccer team handed Coe an 8-2 decision. Three different Duhawks finished with multiple goals with junior
Katie Truesdale leading the way with three tallies.
A back and forth first half provided plenty of excitement as the two sides combined for four goals. The Duhawks opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a goal from Truesdale.
Minutes later, Coe tallied their first of the night thanks to Sarah Fathallah, tallying her 11th of the season.
The sides would not remain level for long as senior
Claire Murphy put Loras back in front with her third goal of the year in the 29th minute.
The scoring concluded with sophomore
Tori Ochs' first of the year in the 36th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball opportunity inside the penalty area.
Loras held the advantage on the stat sheet with 16 shots and nine corner kicks. Senior
Hannah Wilson was tested six times in the first half, making five saves.
Looking to put the game away early in the second half, the Duhawks came out with a strong offensive presence, resulting in three goals through a span of seven minutes.
First to the scoresheet in the second half was Ochs, scoring her second of the night. Truesdale then added her second (66') and third (67') goal of the evening to give her the hat trick.
Leading 5-1, head coach
Dan Rothert turned to his deep bench and was able to rest many of his starters while giving plenty of girls quality minutes. All in all, 27 girls played on Tuesday.
The final 15 minutes saw three goals scored in total, two by the Duhawks and the final of the game scored by Coe. Sophomore
Gen Kapecki netted a double (78', 87') to cap the scoring for Loras.
With the win, Loras finishes the regular season at 10-7 overall and 5-2 in the Iowa Conference.
