ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Duhawks.com) -Â Entering Friday's dual with a 2-0 record, the Duhawks were handed their first setbacks of the 2014-15 season. In the men's dual, the Duhawks were edged 152-67, while the women fell 130-87. Individual winners for Loras included senior
Mary Kathryn Maher (1000 Free and 100 Back), freshman
Kim Breaux (100 Fly), and senior
Lexie Mollahan (500 Free). Sophomore
Ike Casey won the 50 and 100 Free while sophomore
Michael Krol claimed victory in the 1000 Free.
The women kicked the meet off with a second place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of junior
Heather Black, freshman
Ysey Cosme-Rodriguez, junior
Logan Miller, and junior
Elise Amo edged out the Vikings second relay squad.
Continuing the trend, Maher was followed by fellow senior
Desiree Tamez in the 1000 Free to give the Duhawks 13 points after taking the top two spots in the event.
After finishing third in the 400 Medley Relay, Krol gave the men 9 points after finishing more than 40 seconds ahead of his Viking counterpart.
In the next event, Breaux edged out Augustana's Sara Hovren by a third of second to finish second in the 200 Free. On the men's side, senior
Grant Duncan finished behind a pair of Augustana swimmers to take second.
While the Vikings swept the top three spots in the 50 Free on the women's side, Casey and senior
Matt DeWane recorded first and third place finishes for the men.
Unfortunately, the early deficits combined with Augustana's uncontested diving victories proved to be too much for the Duhawks to overcome.
Loras will take a two week break before hosting Simpson College in an Iowa Conference match up on November 21 in San Jose Pool. The meet is set to start at 5 pm.Â
