Women's Soccer Game Notes: Loras to Host No. 4 Wheaton

PREVIEWING THE THUNDER...
In their only contest this week, Loras hosts Wheaton College, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in the latest NSCAA/Continential Tire National Poll. The Thunder are coming off a 20-2-2 season that ended one stop shy of the Final Four, falling to Trinity University 2-1. Wheaton returns its starting goalkeeper in Kelsey Graham who went 18-1-0 last year with a 0.62 Goals Against Average.

On offense, the Thunder lose their leading scorer and All-American Leah DeMoss. The Elburn, Illinois native finished the 2013 season with 10 goals and 11 assists, totaling 31 points. Behind DeMoss on the scoresheet was Bailey Wysocki who returns for her senior campaign. Wysocki finished with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.

ROTHERT RECEIVES BIZTIMES RISING STARS AWARD...
Loras College Head Soccer Coach Dan Rothert ('96) was one of eight honored Wednesday, September 17, 2014 with the prestigious BizTimes Rising Stars Award. Since 2003, the Rising Stars Awards recognizes the achievements of community and business leaders under the age of 40.
 
Rising Stars Award winners demonstrate leadership in business, serve as role models for others and volunteer within their community. The eight Rising Stars Award winners were honored alongside their families and colleagues at a breakfast at the Diamond Jo Casino.
 
In addition to being head soccer coach, Rothert has played a key role in the development of a new strategic plan for the Athletic Department at Loras College and served as chair of the NCAA III Men's Soccer Association in 2012. He has been named Iowa Conference Coach of the Year 13 times and Regional Coach of the Year three times. Following the 2012 season, Rothert was named the CaptainU National Coach of the Year after Loras advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the third time in program history.
