Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 17 Men's Soccer Steamrolls Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's soccer team continued their dominance in the Iowa Conference on Saturday night, reeling off eight unanswered goals on their way to an 8-nil defeat of Buena Vista. Senior Jorge Simon added to his torrid pace, securing a brace and an assist to lead the Duhawks.

TURNING POINT
It took nearly 25 minutes for Loras to get on the board, but sophomore Spencer Moore's goal in the 25th minute opened the flood gates as the Duhawks poured in eight goals on 40 shots, 21 on target.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Moore opened the scoring with his third of the season and was matched 10 minutes later by junior Kyler Olson's first of the year after he danced around Buena Vista defenders inside the box. Simon was involved in the next three goals, scoring two of them and serving senior Richard Lenke up for his second goal of the year. Senior Bryan Irwin added an insurance tally in the 60th minute off an assist from junior Austin Jacobi.

Senior Sebastian Uribe netted his first collegiate goal in the 83rd minute and senior Nick Popa struck for gold with his second of the year in the 87th minute.

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME
Jorge Simon | The Appleton, Wisconsin native scored his seventh and eighth goals of the year and now has six goals in his last five games. His play as of late has him in discussion for Iowa Conference offensive play of the year with his five goals and three assists in conference play.

UP NEXT
Loras will conclude its regular season next Wednesday against the University of Dubuque (11-4-1, 5-1-0 IIAC) for a chance to win the Iowa Conference Regular Season Championship outright. After Saturday's win, the Duhawks own at least a share of their 10th IIAC title. Dubuque were 3-nil winners of Coe on Saturday.
