DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's soccer team (8-3-1, 4-0-1) played host to Buena Vista Saturday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 win. The Duhawks posted their third consecutive clean sheet with the win. Junior
Lauren Bolnius tallied the game-winner with her strike in the 14th minute.
FIRST HALF
- Junior Maura Walsh crossed a ball on the far sideline where the ball was about to be cleared away, but senior Madie Avery kept the play alive with a slide and junior Lauren Bolnius tucked her shot inside the far post to give Loras the lead.
- In the 31st minute, Loras earned a free kick and junior Riley O'Neill fired a shot near post where Rachel Novotny was in perfect position to make the save.
- Freshman Savanna Fleeman received the ball off a throw-in and pushed the ball to her right foot striking a shot on goal that was right at Rachel Novotny.
SECOND HALF
- Loras was on the offensive early in the second half and a bouncing ball in the box fell to the feet of sophomore Elizabeth Mills who one-timed her shot that was saved by the keeper.
- Senior Lizzy McWhinney served a ball into the box that Maura Walsh beat her mark to the ball and forced a diving save from the Buena Vista goalkeeper.
- Junior Lauren Bolnius won a 50-50 ball off a goal kick and she delivered her pass over the Beaver back line for Maura Walsh to run onto. After her initial shot was saved, freshman Savanna Fleeman was unable to come up with the clean rebound scoring opportunity.
- In the 69th minute, Buena Vista's Samantha Arnold beat her defender and struck a left-footed shot that senior Maria Siebels was there to corral.
- The Duhawks earned a corner in the 81st minute and on the service to the back post from junior Gretchen Schutz, senior Madie Avery climbed the ladder and headed her shot into the back of the net.
- Loras sealed the scoring in the 87th minute when a cross came into the penalty area and after a flick on from senior Tori Ochs flicked onto Mills who charged in and slotted her winner past Buena Vista's Rachel Novotny.
FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME
Madie Avery I The Urbandale, Iowa native made an definitive impact on the match, recording an assist on the game-winner and then connecting on her second goal of the year to open a 2-0 lead. Avery was a constant aerial threat, disrupting forward balls from the Beavers all match long.

Loras travels to St. Louis on Sunday for a non-conference tilt against Webster. The Gorloks come in on a four-match winning streak after taking down Principia on Saturday, 2-1. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
