DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five on Saturday, defeating the University of Dubuque 95-66, improving to 11-7 and 5-4 in the Iowa Conference. Junior
Cyerra Hutchins led the Duhawks with 29 points, on 11-of-14 shooting, while senior
Lori Obendorf recorded her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
- Loras got off to a strong with a 7-1 run with four points from Obendorf. On the run, the Duhawks shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor.
- Hutchins extended Loras' lead to 24-9 with a made shot from behind-the-arc, assisted by Obendorf.
Second Quarter
- Junior Lauren Stanich gave the Duhawks a 9-3 run with three made shots from downtown. Stanich finished the day with five made three-pointers.Â
- Loras went on another 9-3 run, this time to end the quarter after a pair of made free throws from Hutchins and senior Terese McMahon
Third Quarter
- Obendorf kickstarted the second half with a 9-5 run with five points, scoring off passes from junior Addie Oberman and sophomore Taylor Brooks.
- The Duhawks executed another double-digit run, after four points each from senior Erin Weaver, McMahon and Hutchins for a 71-41 lead.Â
Fourth Quarter
- Dubuque came out swinging in the fourth quarter as the Spartans capitalized on three Loras turnovers for an 11-2 Dubuque run.Â
- In the last six minutes of regulation, seven different Duhawks contributed to a 17-7 run, closing the gates on the Spartans, 95-66.
