No. 15 Women's Soccer Blanks Luther

DECORAH, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The 15th-ranked Loras women's soccer team ran its winning streak to seven on Sunday and improved to 4-0-0 in conference play after a 2-nil victory over Luther. Junior Elizabeth Mills registered her fifth game-winning goal, scoring in the 47th minute.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-With the wind in their face, the Duhawks' offense was limited to one shot on target as compared to four for the Norse
-In the 35th minute, Luther tested Coble twice within 23 seconds, but the Hempstead prep stood tall and was up to the task
-Loras broke the goalless draw, striking in the 47th minute on a goal by Mills … The Brimfield native dribbled to the center from the left side and bent her shot from 20 yards and tucked it into the top corner
-The Duhawks collected an insurance tally in the 82nd minute after senior Lauren Bolnius' cross went off the crossbar and fell to the feet of freshman Kiki Cabrera to tap in for the goal

-Loras has scored at least two goals in each match this season … After Sunday, the Duhawks own a +31 goal differential overall and a +17 goal differential in conference action
-Sixth shutout of the season … Sophomore Kaylee Coble lowered her goals against average to 0.79, making four saves, all coming in the first half
-Following Sunday's win, Loras is clear atop the table in the Iowa Conference with 12 points out of 12
-The wind played a major factor in the outcome on Sunday as the Duhawks outshot the Norse 13-1 in the second half

The midfield tandem controlled the center of the pitch and limited offensive production for Luther. O'Neill and Stanfa combined for three shots with one on target.

UP NEXT
Loras returns to the Rock Bowl and hosts Simpson on Saturday, Oct. 14. The Storm are 4-9-0 overall and won in double overtime against Buena Vista on Saturday, 2-1. Kickoff from the Rock Bowl is scheduled for 1 p.m.
