Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Edged by Thunder

WHEATON, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - Less than 24 hours after playing 103 minutes in freezing temperatures to move past Adrian, the Loras women's soccer team returned to Joe Bean Stadium for the regional final against No. 7 Wheaton on Saturday night. Gretchen Schutz gave the Duhawks the lead in the seventh minute with her 12th of the season, but two late goals by the Thunder clipped Loras' hopes of reaching the "Sweet 16".

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Loras converted on its first chance of the game, thanks to Wheaton conceding a free kick outside the penalty area ... Just like she has done so many time in her Duhawk career, Schutz blasted home the opening goal past the diving Thunder goalkeeper
• For the remainder of the half, Wheaton pushed numbers forward but Kaylee Coble made all four saves required of her to keep her side in front after 45 minutes
• With the end of regulation looming, the Thunder finally broke through the Duhawk defense on a lofted shot to the top corner in the 80th minute
• In the 87th minute, Wheaton completed its comeback following a scramble inside the box that resulted in the eventual match-winner

NOTABLES
• Schutz brought her Loras career to a close Saturday night, finishing with 95 career points, 28 goals and 39 assists ... Her career assist record ranks second all-time while her career point total and goal total rank fifth all-time
• Mills' career comes to a close after 77 matches where she totaled 25 goals and 23 assists for 73 points ... She ranks seventh all-time for goals (points (77) and goals (25) and ninth for assists (23) ... Her 10 career match-winning goals is the most since Katie Truesdale scored nine from 2013-15
• Loras ends its season with 17 wins, the most since the 2013 season, and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season and 14th time in program history
