DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Twenty-nine runs on 28 hits fueled the Loras baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Buena Vista on Tuesday. The Duhawks moved to two games ahead of the Beavers, winning 22-3 and 7-4, improving to 21-10 this season and 10-8 in the IIAC.
Tyler Tomaka tied the program record for saves in a season, recording his sixth in game two.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Game One
- Loras let Buena Vista know right from the get-go that last weekend's sweep at the hands of Luther was a fluke, racing out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning
- The first four batters reached base and the Duhawks held a 3-0 lead before the first out was recorded
- After three more runs came across to score in the next two innings, Loras erupted for seven runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from

- Buena Vista tied the game on a first-pitch two-run home run to right field in the fourth
- A walk and a single to Koester and Oglesby set the table for Loras … After a wild pitch moved the runners up 90 feet, Koester and Oglesby scored on back-to-back ground outs to regain the lead at 5-3
- In the bottom of the fourth with a runner on third, Weis greeted the new relief pitcher for the Beavers with a single to center field, scoring Fennelly
