CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - At the end of the day, a win wasn't in the cards for the Loras baseball team, who suffered losses to Luther and Buena Vista on first day of the 2018 Iowa Conference Tournament. The Duhawks closed their season at 25-15, the first 25-win season in program history since 2009.

Loras vs. Luther
- Trailing 3-0 in the top of the fifth,
Nick Spiess caught Luther looking at strike three to end the rally

Jake Oglesby was the first Duhawk to reach second base, doing so in the bottom of the seventh after a failed pickoff attempt
- Trailing 7-0, Loras left the bases loaded in the eighth
Loras vs. Buena Vista
- The Duhawks jumped on the board in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by
Ryan Koester
- Over the next six innings, Loras left five runners on base and had three base runners either caught stealing or picked off
- After Buena Vista opened a 4-1 lead, Koester blasted his fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth to make it 4-3 in favor of the Beavers
- With two outs in the ninth,
Luke Fennelly reached on a single up the middle and advanced to second on a balk … Two pitches later, Fennelly came racing around third to tie the game at 4-all
- Loras had the winning run 90 feet away with two outs, but a ground out ended the rally
- Once again in the 10th, the Duhawks loaded the bases but were unable to push across the winning run
- After going silent for four innings, the Beavers' bats woke up in the 11th and tacked on four runs via three hits to take an 8-4 lead
- Loras managed to score once in the bottom of the 11th on Oglesby's sacrifice fly, but that was all the Purple & Gold could muster, falling 8-5
