Oct. 19, 2019 – The Loras College swimming and diving team had a strong start to the 2019-20 season with the men winning the dual meet against Ripon College, 98-70, and the women tied overall with the Red Hawks 104-104, winning the swimming portion of events.
On the men's side,
Ryan George won the 1,000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 11:57.19 and Tim Lagrange won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.37 and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.94). John Lynch won the 100-yard butterfly (59.54) and
Zach Nelson won the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.00). Lynch, Langrange, Nelson and AJ Gainer teamed up for the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.31.
The women scored wins from
Nina Schiro in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.41) and 100-yard backstroke (1:06.11) and
Sarah Shafer in the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.50) and 100-yard butterfly (1:05.42). Cat Edahl won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:21.15 and the 200-yard medley relay of Schiro, Edahl, Shafer, and
Amber Forbort (2:01.38).
Loras travels to Coe College on Friday, Oct. 25 for a dual meet against the Kohawks. Events begin at 6 P.M.
