Eriksen's Hat Trick Leads Duhawks Past Spartans

October 23, 2019 - The Loras College women's soccer team hosted the University of Dubuque Spartans in an American Rivers Conference match up. The Duhawks came away with a 6-0 victory to bring their record to 12-4. The offensive efforts were led by Abby Eriksen and Brynn Jacobi.

The Duhawks got it going early as Eriksen knocked in her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Payton McDonnell with just under five minutes played in the first half. Six minutes later, Eriksen struck again as she chipped a shot over the Spartan goaltender to take a 2-0 lead. Loras continued to keep things rolling as Jacobi scored on a shot from the top of the box to grab her eighth goal of the year to take a 3-0 lead.

In the 21st minute Eriksen picked up her third goal of the game to lock up her first career hat trick. With just under nine minutes remaining in the first half, the Duhawks added to their lead and went up 5-0 after a goal by Emily Perhats. Loras kept their momentum in the second half by taking a 6-0 lead. Jacobi scored her second goal of the game with assists from Eriksen and McDonnell. 

The Duhawks have won seven straight contests against the Spartans. Loras finished the match with 22 shots with eleven on goal. The Duhawks will travel to Nebraska Wesleyan University for their regular season finale on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
