GRINNELL, Iowa (Nov. 23, 2019) – Swimming in its second dual in as many days, the Loras College swimming and diving team posted six first-place finishes among individual and relay events for both the men and women against Grinnell College but came up short of the win.
The Duhawks surrendered a 164-64 decision on the women's side and the men fell 155-59.
Nina Schiro led the women with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.54) and swam the final leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay with
Sarah Shafer,
Kinsey Bogen, and
Amber Forbort to win the event with a time of 1:44.76.
Alex Nesset won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.67.
The men's team celebrated first-place finishes by
Tim LaGrange in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08:45 in the event and
Chris Grunke, Jr. clocked a winning-time of 6:02.65 in the 500-yard freestyle. Grunke, along with
Ben Fogarty,
Zach Nelson, and
Cole Rabedeaux, placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.73.
Loras returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6 for the first day of the Rochester Invite, hosted by St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn.
