November 6, 2019 - The Loras College women's soccer team dueled the Luther College Norse in a snowy slugfest Wednesday evening in the Rock Bowl. The Norse defeated Loras 3-2 to advance to the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) tournament championship.Â
The Duhawks led in shots (16-11) and corner kicks (5-3). Keepers
Kaylee Coble and
Michelle Loyo combined for five saves, Loyo finished with one while Coble tallied four.Â
Loras opened up the scoring in the 22nd minute when
Payton McDonnell caught
Ryleigh O'Brien in stride who chipped it past the keeper to put the Duhawks up 1-0. Tonight's goal brought O'Brien's total to nine.Â
Brynn Jacobi scored her 11th goal of the season, sending a saved shot back to the back of the net to extend the Duhawks lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute.Â
Elizabeth De Prenger cut the Duhawks lead to one in the 75th minute of play. Megan Munger sent equalizer shot to the back of the net just one minute after De Prenger's goal to bring the score to 2-2. Hailey Sanchez gave the Norse the 3-2 advantage in the 80th minute.Â
The Duhawks sent two shots in the final 10 minutes of regulation, and Loyo made a save in the 84th minute, but it wasn't enough as the Norse won 3-2.Â
With the loss, Loras drops to 13-5 this season.Â
