NOTRE DAME, Ind. (Sept. 20, 2019) - After giving its top runners a week off, the Loras College men's cross country team returned to the start line and scored a fifth place finish at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, earning the top Division III spot in the field.
Luke Guttormson led the Duhawks and all Division III competitors with a 16th place finish, clocking a time of 26:22.46 for the five mile course.
Patrick Wolak added another top-20 showing placing 18th overall with a time of 26:29.73. Â
Cole Conklin-Little was the next scoring runner for Loras in 33rd (26:55.41) followed by
Joey Schultz in 40th (27:16.37) and
Blake Keller in 53rd (27:34.85).Â
In the open race, Â
Ethan Hammerand had the top time for the Duhawks, crossing the finish line in a time of 28:33.58 to finish eighth.
Sam Webster placed 13th (28:48.33) followed by
Max Ross in 16th (28:58.54) and
Drew Brase in 19th (29.12.71). Â Jake Jensen was the Duhawks' fifth man, clocking a time of 29:19.90 to finish 21st.
Loras heads to the Wartburg College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5 with race time in Waverly set to begin at 10:30 A.M.
