SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The No. 28 Loras College men's cross country team, along with women's standout
Keelee Leitzen, are headed to the NCAA Division III National Championship this weekend in Spartanburg, S.C., where both will look to cap their seasons on the national stage.
The men secured their fifth consecutive trip to nationals after a strong showing at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship, hosted by Wartburg College. The Duhawks finished fourth in a deep 32-team field, earning an at-large bid into the 2025 championship.
Isaac Bourne once again paced Loras, placing third in 24:15.0 to notch All-Region honors.
Eric Rutherford added another top-15 finish, crossing in 12th at 24:40.2 to earn All-Region accolades.
Ryan McGrath and
Jack Beehler continued Loras' depth with 31st- and 32nd-place finishes in 25:24.5 and 25:26.8, respectively, securing two more All-Region spots. Rounding out the scoring were
Logan Hoger in 53rd (26:19.9) and
Aiden Ruiz in 62nd (26:30.2).
Colby Cryer completed the top seven with an 88th-place finish in 26:56.6.
On the women's side, Leitzen will make her nationals debut after placing fourth at regionals with a time of 21:46.1 to earn All-Region honors. The first-year runner has been a breakout force for the Duhawks all fall, winning the American Rivers Conference title and being named the A-R-C Rookie of the Year. Head coach
Ethan Adlfinger said he believes Leitzen's best race is still ahead of her as she heads into the national meet.
The men's race is scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by the women's race at 10 a.m.
