PELLA, Iowa (Jan. 16, 2020) – The No. 3 Loras College wrestling team maintained its perfect 2-0 record in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) action with a swift dual win against No. 20-ranked Central College on Thursday as the Duhawks dominated early in the match and held strong throughout the dual en route to a 41-9 victory.

D3wrestle.com contender Matt Randone started the Duhawks off with a win at 125 lbs., making quick work of Central's Chase Poston with a tech fall win. Contender-ranked Brice Everson put the Duhawks ahead 11-0 after he pinned Shandon Akeo at early in the first period and at 141 lbs. and Mason McMillen came back in the second period trailing 10-3 to No. 10-ranked Daniel Radcliffe to pin his opponent at 5:24 and extend Loras' lead 17-0.

The Dutch came back to put six points on the board at 149 lbs. but the momentum was short lived as No. 5/2 Brandon Murray put Jackson Gissel through the gauntlet at 157 lbs., sealing the match with a tech fall victory, 20-4.

Leading 22-6, No. 3/2 Eddie Smith dominated Chance Benadum to win his 165 lbs. match, following Murray's example with a tech fall and No. 4/4 Jacob Krakow helped make sure a comeback for the Dutch would be impossible with a win by major decision against Griffen McBride at 174 lbs. to put Loras ahead 32-6.

No. 8/8 Shane Liegel continued to add to his impressive freshman record with a win 9-0 against Nathan Fritz at 184 lbs. Brady Vogel took the mat next at 197 lbs., pinning Tanner Zimmerman at the 2:48 mark. The Dutch took the final match of the night, but it was nowhere near enough to combat the leads the Duhawks had established from the start as Loras remained undefeated in A-R-C action.

The Duhawks send a squad to the Cliff Keen/Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18 before heading to Lincoln, Neb. for the A-R-C Duals against Luther College, No. 5 Coe College, Simpson College, and Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday, Jan. 25.
