WAVERLY, Iowa (Oct. 24, 2020) – Running a course known for producing fast times, the Loras College men's cross country team reaped those benefits as the Duhawks saw a new top-ten performance and multiple season and career best races at the Wartburg College Triangular on Saturday.
Luke Guttormson was the top finisher for the Duhawks, completing the 8,000-meter course in 24:47.66 to place fourth overall. His career-best time, more than a minute faster than his season best, ranks him fifth all-time for the Duhawks.
Evan Jamrozy continued to build on his successful freshman season with a sixth place finish and season-best time of 25:05.05 while
Wyatt Kelly finished 11th with a career-best time of 25:47.42.
Will Yasdick (25:55.53) and
Will Whalen (25:56.26) finished in tandem in 13th and 14th to round out the scoring for the Duhawks.
Ryan Harvey added a top-20 finish for the Duhawks, placing 19th with a season-best time of 26:16.58.
Wartburg took the first three spots with Joe Freiburger winning the race with a time of 24:31.91 to lead the Knights to the team victory with 18 points. Loras placed second with 43 points and Buena Vista University finished third with 85 points.
Loras will close the season at the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Championship on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Pella, Iowa. The men's race is slated for 2:45 P.M.
