Sept. 26, 2020 - Despite four of its nine top runners sidelined from the weekend's race, the Loras College men's cross country team saw another strong performance from its youngest members with three freshmen scoring for the Duhawks to help Loras come away with the team title on their home course at the Dubuque Sports Complex.
Luke Guttormson was the first Duhawk to cross the finish in second, clocking a time of 26:33.89 for the 8,000-meter course, and the freshmen duo of
Ryan Harvey and
Evan Jamrozy finished third (26:48.88) and fourth (26:53.21), respectively.
Will Whalen followed in ninth with a time of 27:28.21 and
Will Yasdick rounded out Loras' scoring in 11th with a time of 27:41.80.
Loras won the triangular with 29 points, edging Simpson College by one point while the University of Dubuque placed third with 71 points. Simpson's Spencer Moon was the individual champion with a time of 26:19.08.
Loras' next race is set for Saturday, Oct. 10 at Luther College. Races in Decorah begin at 4 P.M.
