ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 1, 2021) – Racing without four of its top-ten runners, the No. 21 Loras College men's cross country team rose to the occasion in its return to racing with a second place finish at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, previewing the host site for the upcoming regional championship and highlighted by a top-ten all-time finish from
Ryan Harvey.
Harvey led the Duhawks with a third-place finish (24:56.7) to tie for tenth all-time in Loras history for the 8,000-meters race. Loras put three more scorers in the top-20 with
Wyatt Kelly finishing 13th (25:41.6),
Julian Watson in 16th (25:46.0) and
Will Yasdick in 18th (25:52.7).
Ryan Winger was the final scorer for the Duhawks, crossing the finish line in 26:08.9 in 29th place finish.
The University of Chicago won the meet with a team score of 38 points. The Duhawks came in second with a score of 78 points, followed by fellow American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) competitor Central College scoring 106 points to finish in third.
The Duhawks will have a week off before traveling to Portland, Ore. to compete in the Lewis & Clark Invitational. Races will begin at 11:00 A.M (PT).
