WAVERLY, Iowa (Oct. 20, 2021) - The No. 9 nationally ranked Loras College women's soccer team (14-0-1, 6-0-0 A-R-C) took on the No. 16 Wartburg College Knights (12-2-1, 5-1-0 A-R-C) in a rivalry match Wednesday night in a road contest in Waverly. A late-game goal by senior forward Brynn Jacobi guided the Duhawks past the Knights to earn their eleventh-straight victory and remain undefeated on the season.

Wartburg got on the board first in the 3rd minute of the game on an unassisted goal from Katie Berglund to put the Knights up 1-0 early in the game.

In the 18th minute, junior forward Abby Eriksen netted the equalizer after a shot hit the cross bar and other off the post that saw the ball fall back to Eriksen's feet to put a shot into the back of the net to tie the game 1-1.

With the score still tied with just under 10 minutes to play in regulation, the Duhawks drew a foul to put Payton McDonnell at the free kick where she put a ball into the box for Ryleigh O'Brien who used her head to pass to Jacobi who tucked the game-winning goal past Wartburg goalkeeper Marissa Lopez to secure the 2-1 victory for the Duhawks.

Jacobi led the offensive charge with three shots in the game, all three reaching net, while Eriksen added two. The Duhawks hammered the net, outshooting the Knights 17-9 with ten shots on goal. McDonnell's assist on Jacobi's game-winner marks her 40th assist wearing the purple and gold, placing her second all-time in career assists in just her junior season. A physical battle, the Knights accrued 15 fouls in the game to the Duhawks' five and had to play a player down after Sarah Campbell drew a red card on her second yellow of the game in the 87th minute.

The Duhawks are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 23 as they face the Buena Vista University Beavers on Senior Day. The game is set to begin at 1:00 PM at the Rock Bowl.
