PELLA, Iowa (Oct. 9, 2021) - The No.13/16 Loras College women's soccer team (12-0-1, 4-0-0 A-R-C) continued to assert their dominance in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) as they faced the Central College Dutch (7-4-1, 1-2-0 A-R-C) on Saturday afternoon. Junior forward
Abby Eriksen scored her eighth goal of the season to catapult the Duhawks past the Dutch and extend their win streak to nine games.
Eriksen's goal came in the 16th minute of the game as
Brynn Jacobi threw a ball into play from the sideline, where
Emily Perhats fielded the ball and put a ball into the box that bounced around at the feet of Dutch defenders with none able to gain possession before Eriksen fired a shot past Central goalkeeper Jasmyn Bush. Eriksen's goal marks her eighth of the season, seeing her lead the team in goals scored and second in the conference in the category.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Megan Wick recorded her first career shutout in her second career start for the Duhawks, turning away all three of the shots on goal she faced in the contest.
The Duhawks return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 12 as they travel to Decorah, Iowa to take on the Norse from Luther College. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.
