ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Nov. 13, 2021) – Battling one of the strongest regions in Division III and the coldest racing it has seen all season, the No. 16 Loras College men's cross country team finished in fifth place at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship at Saukie Golf Course, hosted by Augustana College, highlighted by
Ryan Harvey,
Joey Schultz,
Evan Jamrozy, and
Wyatt Kelly earning All-Region honors.
Harvey led the Duhawks with 17
th place finish, running 24:53.6, to tie as the 10
th best time in program history. Schultz and Jamorzy came across second and third for the Duhawks in 29
th (25:06.8) and 30
th (25:09.5), repsectively. Kelly rounded out the All-Region runners for the Duhawks in 32
nd (25:11.7).
Will Yasdick crossed the line in 40
th (25:21.4) to finish out the scoring, with
Julian Watson coming in 45
th place (25:28.0).
The Duhawks finished fifth overall, scoring 148 points. No. 1-ranked Wartburg College won the championship, scoring 38 points. No. 14 Washington University( Mo.) was the runner-up with 86 points, edging No. 9 North Central College with 90 points.
With the regional championship results, the Duhawks will look to receive a team at-large bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship on Nov. 20 in Louisville, Ky. at Tom E. Sawyer Park. The official field of at-large selections and individual qualifiers will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 14. The men's race in Louisville begins at 11 A.M.
