STORM LAKE, Iowa (Nov. 17, 2021) - In their first dual match of the season, the No. 3 Loras College wrestling team kicked off American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) action in Storm Lake, Iowa as they turned in a shutout performance against the Buena Vista University Beavers, winning by a commanding 52-0 final score.

Jared Hensley got the ball rolling for the Duhawks in the opening match at 125 lbs. against Buena Vista's Bryon Fleming, seeing the senior Lenox, Iowa native score an 8-6 decision to put Loras up 3-0 from the jump. Aiden Evans picked up where Hensley left off in the 133 lbs. match against Levy Cortez, earning a victory by fall in the second period to add six more points to the Duhawks' lead.

Jalen Schropp, who earned a No. 10 ranking in this week's d3wrestle.com rankings, took on Axel Hernandez in the 141 lbs. matchup, seeing Schropp score a major decision after racking up a 9-1 win to take the score to 13-0 in the first three matches of the night. In the 165 lbs. match, No. 4 Gabe Fiser met up with Garret Bruce and secured a 10-6 decision to widen the Duhawks' lead even further at 28-0. Another pair of victories by fall followed, with No. 5 Jacob Krakow making quick work of Bruce Lukehart with a fall just over a minute into the period at 174 lbs. while No. 1 Shane Liegel earned a fall in the second period over Diego Escarcega. A forfeiture by Buena Vista at 197 lbs. saw Loras grab six points before junior Dakoda Powell pinned Errol Alden in 59 seconds at 285 lbs. to round out the Duhawks dominant performance with a 52-0 conference-opening victory.

The Duhawks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 20 as they travel to Mequon, Wis. to compete in the CUW Open, hosted by Concordia University-Wisconsin. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
