LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 20, 2021) – With nearly all of its lineup making their national championship debut, the No. 26-ranked Loras College men's cross country team culminated a season of hard work and prospering talent at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Championship on Saturday, finishing 29th overall.

"It was exciting to have a young team make it to the championship with five freshmen entered in our lineup," said head coach Bob Schultz. "I was happy with how we competed this season. They were ahead of pace at the mile, but it was a fast field and went out hard from the start. I am proud of how we overcame adversity with some lineup shifts throughout the season. We got to the national meet and raced well during championship time."

Sophomore Ryan Harvey was Loras' top finisher in 136th, running 25:01.6 for the 8,000-meter race followed by returning national championship veteran Luke Guttormson, who made a surge more than 100 places after going through the 3,000-meter mark, in 148th (25:04.9). Junior Wyatt Kelly also made his way through the pack and finished 183rd with a time of 25:20.7 and sophomore Evan Jamrozy finished in 201st (25L32.7). Sophomore Will Yasdick capped off the Duhawks' scoring in 246th, running 25:51.1.

Fifth-year senior Joey Schultz concluded his collegiate career with a time of 26:22.5, finishing 274th and Julian Watson, the sole true freshman in the lineup, finished 283rd with a time of 26:40.1.

Pomona-Pitzer College defended its title from 2019 with a score of 80 points to win while Massachusetts Institute of Technology finished second with 112 points and Williams College finished third with 167 points. Wartburg College, the only other American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) team in contention, finished ninth with 306 points.
