Nov. 3, 2021 - After receiving a first-round bye in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament the No. 9 Loras College women's soccer team (17-0-1, 9-0-0 A-R-C) played host to the No. 4 seeded Luther College Norse in the Semifinals round at the Rock Bowl Wednesday night. With the game scoreless at the end of regulation the two teams duked it out in overtime, seeing the Duhawks' offensive pressure pay-off as senior
Ryleigh O'Brien secured the game-winner to see the Duhawks advance to the Finals.
Loras put the pressure on Luther early in the game, taking a total of 13 shots in the first half but none found the back of the net as the two teams went into half time at a scoreless stalemate. The second half of the game saw the Duhawks continue attacking the Norse with eight more shots to bring their shot total to 21 at the end of regulation with the score yet to budge, forcing a golden goal overtime to commence.
After a scoreless first overtime that saw Loras outshoot Luther 4-1, the two teams battled more in double overtime with the Duhawks rifling off three shots before A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week
Emily Perhats hit a shot from 25 yards out that hit off the cross bar and back into the lap of O'Brien who sealed the deal on the 1-0 victory to see the Duhawks remain undefeated on the season and advance to the A-R-C Tournament Finals.
In the 105 minutes, the Duhawks took 28 total shots with 13 on goal while holding the Norse to a lone goal on net that sophomore keeper
Kyndal Kells easily swallowed up for her one save of the night. O'Brien's goal comes as her sixth of the season while Perhats' assist marks her fifth.
The Duhawks are set to host the No. 2 seeded Wartburg College Knights in the A-R-C Tournament Finals matchup on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Rock Bowl. Start time of the game is still to be determined at this time.
