Feb. 6, 2021 - Loras College swim and dive welcomed Nebraska Wesleyan University back to San Jose Pool Saturday morning for the second dual meet of the weekend. The Duhawks claimed victories in nine events, with the women amassing six event wins and the men with six.
Harriett Siegrist and
Brianna Gourley swept the 1000 yard freestyle for the Duhawks, seeing Siegrist turn in a 13:59.19 finish and Gourley coming in at 14:05.90 to earn 13 points for the women.
Taylor Hrabak added another nine points to the total with her 2:10.63 victory in the 200 yard freestyle. In the 100 yard butterfly,
John Lynch IV placed first recording a 57.64 finish.
Senior
Sarah Shafer won two events on the day in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing in 26.45 and in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.99.
Tim LaGrange and
Andrew Gainer added a combined 12 points to the men's score in the 50 yard freestyle, with LaGrange winning in 23.24 and Gainer coming in third with a 23.77 finish.
The 100 yard breaststroke saw
Kinsey Bogen finish in 1:18.33 to earn a first place finish. Bogen turned in a strong 59.33 time in the 100 yard freestyle, coming in close behind Nebraska Wesleyan's Josie Ford who finished in 59.20. Freshman
Brad LaGrange shined in the 100 freestyle as well, posting a 51.09 finish to take first place and earn 9 team points for the Duhawks.
Coming off of Friday night's historic victory over the Prairie Wolves, the mens team fell 119-102 and the women kept the score close but were narrowly edged 99-96.
The Duhawks are back in action on Feb. 18 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as they compete in the Liberal Arts Conference Championship.
