ST. PAUL, Minn. (Apr. 23, 2021) – The Loras College women's lacrosse team (6-5, 3-3 MWLC) fell victim to a second-half scoring run by the University of Northwestern-St. Paul (5-3, 4-2 MWLC) on Friday, dropping the regular season finale, 19-6, but the Duhawks still celebrated a program milestone after securing the No. 4 seed for the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) tournament for the first time in program history.

Erin Conley put the Duhawks on the board at the 22:55 mark to rally back against the Eagles' 2-0 start and Marianne Gleason responded to another goal by Northwestern with one of her own to keep Loras within one with 20 minutes to play in the first. Conley added a pair of goals following two by the Eagles to keep the score close, 5-4 with 12 minutes left in the half but Northwestern pulled away to hold an 8-4 lead heading into halftime with a three-goal spurt.

Coming out of the break, Northwestern added another goal to extend the lead but the duo of Katlynne Wolf and Clare Brunn were at it again as Brunn notched her first goal of the game off Wolf's assist. Just as the Duhawks had something going, the Eagles' offense exploded with nine unanswered goals to lead 18-5 with under six minutes to play, controlling the second half. Brunn took away the momentum from Northwestern with a goal at the 3:48 mark but it was the last goal the Duhawks would score as time expired and the Eagles came away with the win.

Conley led the team with perfect 3-3 shooting while Brunn added two goals and Wolf had two assists. Brunn also had a team high seven draw controls and Pearl Mueller added five at the circle while Gleason led the defense with eight ground ball. Leah Hood came away with two caused turnovers and in goal, Lydia Phelps made 17 saves.

The Duhawks will travel to play No. 1 seed Hamline University and the defending conference champions in the first round of the MWLC Tournament in the historic matchup. Game time in St. Paul is yet to be announced.
