GRINNELL, Iowa (Nov. 19, 2022) – Another tough matchup for the Loras College swimming and diving teams led to a pair of losses on Saturday to the Grinnell College Pioneers.

Both Grinnell squads rank inside the top 40 in Division III as the Duhawk women suffered a 234-41 loss while the men fell 248-46.

Senior Nina Schiro provided a pair of solid performances for the Duhawk women, earning runner-up finishes in each the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events. Schiro was just a second off the lead in the 100-yard race and just three seconds behind in the 200-yard race.

Schiro led off the runner-up finish for the Duawks' 200-yard freestyle relay team that also featured Annie Quinn, Laney Edgeton, and Kinsey Bogen. Bogen also earned a top-three finish of her own as an individual in the 500-yard freestyle race.

Freshman Caden Gillmore was one of seven Duhawk men to secure a top-five finish in an event Saturday, doing so a team-best three times as an individual. Gillmore finished in fourth place in each the 50- and 200-yard freestyle races while taking fifth in the 100-yard butterfly event.

Junior Brian Day matched Gillmore with a pair of fourth place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races while junior Brad LaGrange earned top-fives in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races.

The Duhawks will get a week off to prepare for their next event, a two-day meet at the Wheaton College Invite in Wheaton, Ill. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3.
