Dec. 5, 2022 – Wrestler Shane Liegel and men's swimmer Caden Gillmore have each been named as an American Rivers Conference Athlete of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 4, according to the conference's release on Monday.

Liegel was named as the conference's wrestler of the week for the third time already this season and the seventh time in his career. The Spring Green, Wis. native stayed unbeaten in 2022-23 with his 11^th straight win to start the season as he defeated No. 2 Augsburg University's Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann via a 15-3 major decision on Thursday. Liegel, who is the No. 3-ranked wrestler at 184-lbs, handily beat Schwanebeck-Ostermann who wrestled down a weight class as the No. 4-ranked wrestler at the 197-lb division.

Gillmore led the way for the swimming and diving programs at the Wheaton College Invitational over the weekend to earn the second A-R-C weekly award of his freshman campaign. The Greely, Colo. native participated in three events in a stacked field over the weekend, taking 13^th in the 500-yard freestyle, 14th in the 200-yard butterfly, and 20^th in the 100-yard butterfly races after advancing past the preliminaries in all three events. The freshman set career-best times in all three of his events between his results from the preliminaries and the finals.
