Feb. 16, 2022 – Making the short trip down the street to wrestle its final American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) dual of the season, the Loras College wrestling team (12-1, 7-1 A-R-C) improved to 7-1 in conference action after the Duhawks defeated Simpson College (6-6, 2-5 A-R-C), 38-10, in a neutral-site matchup hosted by the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night.
The Storm took the first bout of the night by decision but
Aiden Evans scored the first points for the Duhawks at 133 lbs., pinning Joe Weaver in the quickest fall of the night at 52 seconds. Simpson came back to win the 141 lbs. match but No. 9
Daniel Ruiz pinned Sam McCoy at 2:12 at 149 lbs. and No. 7
Zeke Smith added another pin at 157 lbs. against Robert Silva to give Loras the 18-7 lead. No. 14
Gabe Fiser came away with a major decision against Jacob Slavin at 165 lbs. and No. 3
Jacob Krakow posted a 17-1 win by tech fall against Shyler Langley as Loras extended its stronghold, 27-7.

Shane Liegel added a first period pin for the Duhawks at 184 lbs., taking down Shane Mathias a the 1:34 mark and
Tad Griffith defeated Andrew Wolff by a 15-0 tech fall at 197 lbs. The Storm took the 285 lbs. match to close out the dual but Loras put together another dominant performance to take the dual, 38-10.
The Duhawks now turn their focus to the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional Championship at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26.
