SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Sept. 16, 2022) – Finishing as the top Division III team among Division I, II and III competitors, the No. 33-ranked Loras College men's cross country team took runner-up honors at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Friday.
Luke Guttormson led the way for the second-straight week, placing 11th with a five-mile time of 25:03.40.
Ryan Harvey came in as the Duhawks' next runner in 13th with a time of 25:12.40, right on the heels of Notre Dame's Jake Renfree (25:12.00).
Julian Watson finished 20th with a time of 25:54.60 and the Duhawks added a pack of three runners in
Carlo Dannenfelser (26:12.30),
Jacob Belha (26:16.80) and
Wyatt Kelly (26:20.20).
Will Whalen came in as Loras' seventh man with a time of 26:30.80 to take 37th overall.
The Fighting Irish won the meet with a perfect score of 15, followed by the Duhawks with 76 points to edge Division II Lewis University in third with 77.Â
The Duhawks take a week off from competition before heading to the site of the NCAA Division III National Championship, taking a peek at the national course at the Pre-Nationals meet, hosted by Olivet College, on Saturday, Oct. 1. Action in Lansing, Mich. begins at 11 A.M. (ET).
