Sept. 28, 2022 – The Loras College men's cross country team continued to ascend the national rankings on Wednesday as the Duhawks moved up to No. 22 in the Week 3 set of United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Ratings Index, up two spots from the week prior.
The Duhawks had a phenomenal showing at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, on Sept. 17 their last time out on the course, led by
Luke Guttormson with an 11th-place finish on the five mile course to help the team take runner-up honors and beat out Division II Lewis University by one point.
Pomona-Pitzer remains the No. 1-ranked team in the nation and Massachusetts Institute of Technology comes in at No. 2, followed by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse moving up to No. 3 and bumping American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) defending champion Wartburg College to No. 4. North Central College sits at No. 5 followed by Johns Hopkins University in sixth and John Carroll University in seventh. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater ranks eighth, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is ninth and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is No. 10.
The only league program's in the top-35 are the Knights and Duhawks while the top-five teams in the Midwest Region all rank among the top-25 programs.
The Duhawks travel to Michigan on Oct. 1 for the Pre-Nationals Meet at Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. The men's varsity race begins at 11:15 A.M. (ET) and the open 8-kilometer race takes off at 12:45 P.M. (ET).
